Alabama

The University of Alabama still has not named a head coach. Back in the day, coaches would jump at this opportunity. Nowadays, peeps are afraid!

It's not unlike most major college football programs, if a coach doesn't win in 3 seasons he's out. And as a fan, I say rightfully so. However at Alabama, it's a little different; those fans are in dire need of other sports excitement. There are no professional teams in the state of Alabama so the entire year is dedicated to college football. And not that there's anything wrong with that but sometimes people get a little crazy over there.

Take Bill Curry for example, his family was threatened by "fans" during one of his seasons at Alabama, he gladly left and went to coach at Kentucky.

The bottom line is contrary to what most Crimson Tide fans think, this is not the glorious job it once was. Alabama fans need to let go of Bear Bryant's ghost and give a coach a legitimate fighting chance. Oh yeah, and get over themselves because Bama ain't all that and a pack of gum.

Like MIami...or "Thug U" is that great of a program. Your players are one step away from prison, your stadium is an incredible dump that hasn't been updated since Nixon was around, and I can't remember the last time I saw a full Orange Bowl. Also, didn't Miami just fire a coach that had won a NC? Yes, Shula was 26-23 but he hardly was that good...he was 2-14 against Bama's biggest rivals: Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Arkansas...not to mention 0 and friggin 19 overall when trailing entering the 4th quarter. Laugh if you want, but you should take note of the old "pot and kettle" adage first. And PLEASE will you lazy journalists come up with another oh-so-clever line then "Bama people need to realize the Bear ain't comin' back". No kidding. No one at Bama talks about that. We just want a winner...wherever he comes from. Instead of doing good investigative journalism to find out the real reasons why Bama has gone through several coaches recently, I'm sure it is much easier to just spew the same old tired drivel thinking you are being informative and witty. Try to do better in the future.

"Check out the brain on Brad"....

So what is the real reason Bama has gone through so many coaches, Brad? In your bashing of LaChica you left out the "real" investigative stuff.

My Op is that La Chica was right. They want Bear and the powers that be will not let any coach do what Bear did to win...Namely run the program their way. To quote ol'blue eyes.

BTW i said my opinion so no responce is neccessary from the knuckle dragger, K

Ray Perkins left for TB, Gene Stallings gave it 7 years and an NC, Mike DuBose left (a stench) with sexual harassment honors, Fran the Fraud "didn't hold the rope" and bolted for TA&M, Price hardly stopped in T-Town ...we fans didn't have much (if anything) to do with any of those departures. Alabama fans understand "ain't never been nothing but a winner."... and rightfully expect a good coach to both want the job and step up to a tradition that carries 12 NCs and bears the great weight of envy from the shallow minded likes of chica. Mark these words - Alabama's next coach will pick up the program's 13th NC in the next five years, if he stays he'll win more because that's what championship programs do. Ironically, it's all of you idiots that live in the past and drag Coach Bryant into the conversation, Alabama fans are focused on the future and the next NC, and the next....

Alabama and Nebraska are two programs that can't live up to the past of thier glory. The game has passed them by...just like Joe Gibbs

Wrong.

Brad, wanh, wanh, wanh.

It's all good because the longer Alabama goes without naming a coach, the more recruits are changing their minds and coming to other programs like Miami. Even with its incredibly dumpy stadium.

Thanks Tide!

Right, Dick!

SC,

Please remember, you are picking on fans with a record of 6-6! All SIX LOSSES were SEC... and the most devastating loss was to MS STATE!!! OUCH!!

Hey thanks, Bradley! I accept your offer to laugh: HAHAHAHA!!! You suck BamaNecks!

Here's some more drivel for ya: What successful coach these days wants to move his family to Tuscalooser, AL? He'd have to trade in his Lexus for a pick'em'up truck.

Well, have fun at the Petro Sun Bowl, underdog! Should be a good 'ol "battle of the 6-6's
" time.

That's fine...they can all go to Miami (or should I say Florida Penal league prep) as far as I care. A good selection on a coach is much more important than jumping the gun just to save some recruits. Anonymous and Gatora$$...did you have anything constructive to offer or just some name-calling? Proving that Florida education system works! And thanks Richard for doing their homework for them and producing some "real investigative" facts.

It's funny Chica that you call me a whiner and others say I am "bashing" you when you fired the first shot there honey. Again, don't dish it if you have a problem taking it.

Brad,
I set up this blog to write my opinions and that's how I feel about Alabama. It mainly comes from meeting a lot of pompous Alabama fans who always dog on my team and others.

Go ahead, say the usual things about Miami,(thugs, penal code, etc.) talk about the facilities and the Orange Bowl. Funny, you judge me for saying the same old thing about Bama fans and Bear Bryant but you did the same thing about Miami. Saying the same old stuff that everyone else says, how about some creativity on your part.

At least Miami is not on probation this year....AGAIN.

Gator Stud,
Unfortunately, I can't give these Bama guys a hard time about their record as my team's record is the same humiliating 6-6.

Finally some comments from someone other than me. Keep up the good work loosers.

Okay, I'll take another shot at illuminating the dim while elevating the IQ and maturity level of this space..I enjoy Florida and Miami, both the places and schools. Some of my favorite games came against FL - '99 SEC Championship and MIA - '92 NC. In fact, MIA was cocky then and FL was dumb, so you guys have tradition also.

But look at hard numbers for a minute. Yes we're going to the Independence Bowl at 6-6 and as underdogs to OK ST. Nevermind that it will be our 54th (NCAA record) Bowl appearance. I don't know how many bowls FL has been in but they did win ONE NC. FL has won 7 SEC Championships - but, oh Alabama has won TWENTY-ONE. MIA and FL fans like chica and anonymous (more appropriately anony-mouse) remind me of how the Nouveau riche embarass themselves. I hope FL beats Ohio State and that someday MIA will find their way out of the ugly behavior that is more thier tradition than quarterbacks and NCs. And I mean that, you can elevate the game or be a poster child for programs that can't get it right. Rather than build on the good the program has done, MIA has developed a felony farm school at FIU.

Have a nice day!

One more thing, I understand your taking the time to find a new head coach. After all, this will be your 5th one since 2000?

I love the way you guys keep dogging FL and UM. Both those schools have been on probation in the past but Alabama is consistently on probation every 3-4 years it seems. Your unmitigated arrogance is hysterical.

Well the best thing about not getting the alabama head coaching job this year is that you will have another chance in about 2 years. For any coaches trying and have been told no-don't give up. You too can have your turn....

SportsChica, Brad took you to school.

He illustrated how wrong you were by using old, tired Hurricane clichés to point out that you were using old, tired clichés in your comments about ‘Bama.

Ghost of Bear,
How did he take her to school? As per usual, an Alabama fan misunderstands something. Must be that sub-par education in Redneckville.

Good job, SC.
