My Additional Two Cents

I don't want to beat a dead horse (pardon the pun) about this whole MichaelVickDogFightingIt'sMyHouseICanDoWhatIWantAnimalsAreWorthless story but when other athletes are weighing in and giving their imbecilic opinions and thoughts, then I must say something.

Embarrassingly enough, this time around it's one of my former 'Canes, Clinton Portis. Here is what Portis had to say: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2878099

The gist of what he said is this: It's no one's business what Vick does with his animals. They're on his property so everyone should butt out. Take my word for it, La Chica's grammar was certainly better than Clinton's.

Anyway, what I take from these comments is that one can do ANYTHING one wants to any living creature as long as it's on one's private property?? I wonder if Portis applies this theory to when wives are beaten and children are abused as well? Geez, I hope not.

I don't mean to get all serious on your asses but can't we agree on one thing: Children and animals are helpless. They need a little help and protection every now and then!

I wonder if Clinton and Michael would appreciate not having access to food or water for a few days....as long as it was on their own property, I guess it's okay. Just sayin'.

Preaching to the massess La Chica. I also love the way the Redskins organization made Clinton issue a statement that he doesn't condone dog fighting. Nice try Redskins. maybe they should have told him to keep his mouth shut before he was saying dog fighting was on Animal Planet.

Oh Mikey...kiss those endorsements good bye.....

I know its hard to look past the immediate reaction to the whole dog fighting thing. I spend time in the Winter hunting with some hardcore old south conservative rednecks and even they think the guy is an idiot.
But consider this...
But what happens if Vick is guilty/culpable/responsible and gets suspended?
I guess the Falcons could make an attempt to trade him but aren't there HUGE salary cap ramifications if they do that? Won't they be paying his contract for years to come? And who would want him with all the baggage and the huge price tag? Does this mean that Joey Harrington is the heir-apparent to the quarterback position? I sure like D.J. Shockley but I don't think he's ready to pilot an NFL franchise.
As straight-laced as Arthur Blank is I can't see him continuing to allow Vick to give the team bad press.
What does Miss Chica think about the Falcons chances of a winning season next year?

Dawg Diva,
These guys think they are above everyone else and can say whatever they want without penalty. It doesn't matter b/c all they have to do is make a public apology. Whaever!

Finish the Drill,
Personally, I don't care about the Falcons! I don't mind it if they do well but my team is the Dolphins and God knows we have had our share of stupid drama with Ricky Williams. At least Ricky only harmed himself with his marijuana consumption and not innocent animals. I must though, I am curious to see how the Falcons do under Petrino. And I wouldn't mind seeing Vick fail miserably under this offense as well.

I think if the League suspends Vick, the Falcons are not responsible for his salary during the term of the suspension, correct? I know that will not make a huge dent in the salary he's making but...it would be worth it in my humble opinion.

All of my buddies who are Falcon fans want Vick gone. I would.

Drill,

I'm sure in the contract that Mr Vick signed it states some kind of penlty if found guilty of a felany. Not that dude head would serve any real Paris Hilton time but still. They should have sent him packing to the Raiders in the off season and gotten themselves one Brady Quinn.....

This way my wife would have something to ooooogle over. "BQ puts asses in seats, female asses in seats"

Brady Quinn! Brilliant idea. Although I can't stand the Irish, nor do I want to look at his girlfriend Toucan Sam, if you gotta look at someone without their helmet on in the ATL, might as well look at BQ...And don't let La Chica try to tell us she would tunr her head away from the screen

If Brady Quinn was a Falcon, not only would I not turn away from the screen, but I would become a Falcons season ticket holder.

Clinton Portis? The guy who dresses like George Clinton, complete with feather boas, platform shoes and giant pairs of sun glasses? He made a very stupid statement, but I can't believe that anyone is surprised. Who pays any attention to him anyway? Vick and Portis can be taken out of the hood and given ridiculous sums of cash, but can't seem to leave behind their old neighborhood cash generating schemes, despite the fact that it threatens their millions. It sounds like it should be pretty easy. You've got guaranteed millions on one hand and the chance for a little part time scratch on the other. I do feel sorry for the puppies, but in Portis' defense Dog fighting is big business everywhere though. It flourishes here in Kentucky, and in Ohio. The guy I feel sorry for is Blank the Falcons owner. He gave Vick a massive guaranteed contract that he will still have to pay even if Vick goes to jail! I'll just bet that he regrets that every day of his life...Oh well he can afford it!!!

To Dawg Diva:

What endorsements? Mike Vick has been in the league, what, six years now. I can only think of a Nike TV commercial, in which he didn't speak, way back when and a AirTran radio commercial, in which he shouldn't have "spoken". The guy is a moron and obviously has too much money. He should/could be like Peyton Manning and have endorsements out the yin yang. Instead, he can't get an ad with a local tire store. Why? Because he presents himself as a moron. Whenever he's seen in public, he's dresses like a gangbanger. Whenever he "speaks", he uses horrible grammar and he lies and makes stupid statements, thinking the public will just buy his garbage because he's Mike Vick, Superstar. Add to that, he appears lazy and uninspired everytime his mugg is in front of a camera or microphone. He just has no concept of what it takes to market oneself. His comments at the Falcons party last week show that he is in denial and believes he is still untouchable. No, Mike better be socking his football earnings away in mutual funds, cuz his endorsement earnings won't support a small family on a low cost budget.

I really don't get the whole BQ heart throb thing. The guy TRIES so hard to look cute. He's a pretty boy in training. And what about that hairdoo? I mean, he must shower, then immediately goop mousse on his hair, then put on a helmet and let it sit for two hours. How else can you explain that mess? Put on hair extensions and he'd make a beautiful woman. Yeeeeuck!
